History of Grace Baptist Church (GBC)
Grace Baptist Church was established in 1968 as an independent fundamental
Baptist church in the Laurel area. It has enjoyed the preaching ministries of
Richard Merkel (1968 – 1978), Dr. Colin Smith (1978 – 1993), James Eaton (1993 – 1998),
Craig Brittingham (1998 – 2007), and Mike Hammons (2008 – present).
