Overview of Grace Baptist Church of Laurel

Grace Baptist Church (GBC) of Laurel is an independent fundamental Baptist church devoted to the salvation of souls and the building up of believers through the preaching of the whole Word of God. It is a Church home for true believers and their families where they may be fed on the Word, developed spiritually, and trained for usefulness in service. The constant aim is to carry the gospel to the lost everywhere, both at home and abroad.

Our mission is to make disciples who become mature believers in Jesus Christ, devoted to worshiping and serving Him. GBC has had a history of Pastors who strive to teach the whole Bible accurately, without fear or compromise. Pastor Mike Hammons is the Senior Pastor at GBC. The church's policies and governance are handled through the members of the church (self-government).

We have a variety of ministries and events at Grace to teach and edify believers and to reach the world with the gospel:

Worship Team: The worship team leads the church to glorify God through corporate worship and has a wide variety of formats such as solo vocal or instrumental performances, small group or choir presentations accompanied by recorded accompaniment, and full congregational singing accompanied by many instruments.

Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF): Come learn God's Word at one of our ABF groups. We usually have two or three different ABF classes that meet at 9:30 AM. The classes normally run three to six months and focus on a particular topic or book of the Bible.

Youth classes: Sunday School classes meet at 9:30 AM and are available for 2-3 yrs (Two's and Three's), 4-5 yrs (Pre-Primary), 1st - 3rd Grade (Primary), 4th - 5th Grade (Middlers), 6th Grade (Juniors), 7th -12th Grade (Youth Group)..

Youth Group: The Youth Group is for 7th - 12th Grade and meets during the 9:30 AM Sunday morning service and during the Sunday evening service. They also participate in special events throughout the year to promote Christian fellowship and discipleship.

AWANA: AWANA is an international Bible club for youth that promotes the memorizing of God's Word. The AWANA club year at GBC usually runs from September through May. We have AWANA groups for 3-4 yrs (Cubbies), K-2nd Grade (Sparks), 3rd-6th Grade (TNT) and 7th and 8th Grade (Trek)

Ladies Ministry: "Ladies of Grace" is a special ministry of the women at GBC. It includes hospitality, visitation and discipleship of ladies, and coordinating special lady events.

Missions: GBC supports national and international missionary families who share a like minded faith. Support ranges from monetary gifts, to prayer and encourangement and field visitations.

Nursery: Nursery care is given for all services. The nursery also provides a private area for mothers to nurse their babies.

Vacation Bible School (VBS): Normally every summer GBC holds a week long VBS for youth Preschool - 6th grade.

Summer Camp: Youth ages 8-12, can enjoy a week of camp in the PA countryside at Camp TOHIGLO. This week long camp gives the youth time to focus on God and what His Word has to say about issues they are facing.
