1. Anchor in living hope 3-5

Hope is a basis for joy!
Jesus’ resurrection and our salvation anchor us!

• From hopeless to hope-filled
• Awaiting our glorious inheritance
• With confidence in God’s mercy and power

2. Praise in every trial 6-7

Purpose is a basis for joy!
God’s purpose is not thwarted by trials, but accomplished through them!
It is a privilege to suffer with Jesus! (Romans 8:17-18, Acts 5:41)
Grief may coexist with joy but cannot steal joy! (John 16:22)
Do I set my thinking on what is praiseworthy? (Philippians 4:8)

3. Grow in genuine faith 7-9

Growth is a basis for joy!
Trials are fertile soil for the Holy Spirit to grow us. (James 1:2-4, Romans 5:3-5)
What do trials reveal of your inner character – works of the flesh, or the fruit of the Spirit?
Do you value your faith as precious – because of the One you trust?
