Take action to forgive your offender!

1. Because Jesus paid it all 17-19

We owe a debt because of our sins (Numbers 5:6-8).
Jesus paid a debt He did not owe because I owed a debt I could not pay (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Jesus’ payment is the basis for our new regard for one another (2 Corinthians 5:16-17).
God accepts all who trust Jesus (Romans 15:7, Ephesians 1:6).

2. Because obedience enjoys refreshment 20-21

Find true rest in trusting God and releasing ill feelings toward others (Matthew 11:28-30).
Go above and beyond in reconciliation for the good of the relationship!

What about slavery?

• Gospel understanding brings a new mindset (Philemon 6)
• Gospel rest comes from transformed living (Philemon 20)

3. Because forgiveness maintains fellowship 22-24

Our moral decisions impact others in so many ways!
There are people all around who are praying, supporting, loving, invested, and watching… and struggling themselves!
Forgiveness is a powerful picture of the gospel – giving grace because we have been given grace!
