Sermon Notes
Sins and Sorrows Grow (Genesis 3:14-19)
Our holy God decrees a curse because of sin.
- We will experience pain 16-17
The whole earth and all who dwell on it await redemption in pain! (Romans 8:22-23)
- Toil in work 3:17-19
- Childbearing 3:16
- Fear 3:10
- Guilt and shame 3:10
BUT, work is not part of the curse! (Genesis 2:15)
- We will experience conflict 16, 24
With one another – blame, enmity, competition
With God – separation from His presence (Isaiah 59:2)
- We push away from God (Romans 8:7, James 4:4)
- God rejects a sinful people (Micah 3:4, Proverbs 15:29)
- We will experience death 2:17
Death was introduced because of sin.
(Romans 5:12-14)
What is life? Life is knowing Jesus, living in relationship with God. (John 17:3, 1 John 5:11-12)
Death is all we can earn from God, BUT God gives the gift of eternal life! (Romans 6:23)
Our holy God decrees His plan to redeem sinners!
God gives a promise, providing salvation! (Genesis 3:15)
God gives a covering, providing atonement! (Genesis 3:21)
We can choose to walk with God! (Micah 6:8, 1 John 2:6)
