God is good! (Psalm 136:1, Luke 18:18-19, Psalm 34:8)
God created everything good. (Genesis 1)
Because of sin, we are not good. (Romans 7:18)
God is committed to good for us! (Psalm 23:6, Romans 8:28)
We are saved for the purpose of good. (Ephesians 2:10, Philippians 2:13)
This good pours out on those around us. (1 Thessalonians 5:15, Galatians 6:10)

Cultivate Jesus’ goodness by the power of the Holy Spirit!

1. Avoid evil

What is your first reaction when mistreated?  Why?
Continually decide not to oppose God!

• Restrain your evil nature!
• Repent of your evil tendencies!
• Do not be overcome by evil! (Romans 12:21)

2. Bless others

Will you pour out goodness on others, even if they hurt you?
Continually decide to team with God!

• Share in his people’s thoughts and feelings.
• Humbly pursue love, compassion, and peace.
• Overcome evil with good! (Romans 12:21)

3. Honor Christ

Are you prepared to endure suffering and share hope?
Continually decide that Jesus is worth it!

• Represent the beauty of Jesus’ character.
• Display the power of Jesus’ hope.
• Enjoy blessing in the midst of suffering! (Matthew 5:10-12)
