Look on the beauty of Jesus to know Him more!

1. Jesus is the eternal glorious God 1-5

Jesus is one of the Trinity – 1 God, 3 persons.

• IS God (1:2) • distinct from God
• in relationship with God

The “I AM” didn’t begin as a baby… but always was God!

Jesus was intricately involved in our creation!

Jesus has an incomprehensible glory (John 17:5, Hebrews 1:3)!

2. Jesus is the message of the prophets 6-8, 15, 17

John and all Old Testament prophets:

• Were not the light
• Brought messages from God (Hebrews 1:1)
• Bore witness of Jesus (John 1:8, 5:46)

Grace and truth introduced through the Law, but fulfilled in Jesus (John 1:16-17)

3. Jesus came to offer life v. 4, 9-13

Jesus is the Creator who authors life.

Jesus is the Savior who restores life.

This life is everlasting (John 3:16) and abundant (John 10:10)

This life is experienced and enjoyed in relationship with Jesus (John 1:12, 17:3).

4. Jesus came to reveal the Father v. 5, 14-18

Jesus “exegetes” the Father (John 1:18) – make known, interpret

Jesus, the “Word” of God, shows us all that God is!

Jesus “tabernacled” among us (John 1:14) – God’s personal dwelling with His people

Grace is a person (Titus 2:11)!

Truth is a person (John 14:6)!

Jesus shows us the Father (John 14:6-11).
